From Sample Revision to Repeat Orders: A Wired E27 Base for PE Furniture

A sample was refined for fit and finish, approved for a 1,000-piece order and later reordered for a broad range of rotomoulded furniture.

An Italian PE furniture buyer needed one serviceable lighting base for several translucent rotomoulded products. The confirmed applications included stools, light balls, bar counters, tables, chairs, floor lamps, sofas, flowerpots and ice buckets. The project moved from a sample and detailed finish corrections to an approved 1,000-piece order, followed by another confirmed 1,000-piece order in 2024.

Confirmed result

The approved solution was a 120 mm ABS base with an E27 bulb holder, a 2 m white cable and an EU plug. It provided the customer with a repeatable wired light source that could be installed across multiple compatible PE furniture moulds while keeping the bulb replaceable.

One base, several product shapes

The customer used it throughout a PE illuminated furniture range.

The value of this project was not one isolated lamp. A common light base could support several furniture shapes, simplifying production, replacement and spare-parts planning when the mould openings and mounting details were designed around the same interface.

These are the buyer's confirmed product categories. They are not a claim that the base automatically fits every product in the market: each shell still needs compatible dimensions, cable routing and heat clearance around the selected bulb.

Project specification

The practical requirement was more specific than “an E27 socket.”

Sample revisions

Fit was only the first approval step.

The buyer first confirmed that the base fitted the furniture, but did not accept the initial sample finish for bulk production. The requested corrections included a 2 m cable, a flat underside without an unwanted projection, a consistent white cable and cleaner assembly without excessive visible adhesive or blocked holes.

This distinction matters in OEM work: a component can fit mechanically and still fail the buyer's visual or production standard. The revised sample was approved before the first confirmed 1,000-piece order.

Production evidence

Sample approval became bulk production and a later reorder.

After approving the revised sample, the buyer confirmed an order for 1,000 E27 bases in December 2022. A later commercial invoice records another 1,000-piece E27 base order in November 2024. The same customer also evaluated other lighting formats over time, but the E27 base remained a recurring wired solution for the PE furniture range.

Choosing the lighting architecture

Use a wired E27 base when replaceability and continuous power matter.

A wired E27 system can be practical for furniture positioned close to mains power, permanent hospitality installations and products whose bulb should be easy to replace. The bulb can be selected separately to suit brightness, colour or control requirements, provided its electrical, thermal and dimensional specifications match the product.

For event furniture that must move without cables, a rechargeable LED module may be a better architecture. Projects that need a replaceable E27-format bulb without a permanent mains cable can instead compare the rechargeable E27 LED bulb kit. For outdoor, poolside or wet-area use, do not infer a waterproof rating from the white plastic base or cable alone. The complete installation, plug, cable entry, bulb and furniture shell need an appropriately specified and tested design.

Questions

E27 bases for PE furniture.

Why use an E27 light base inside PE illuminated furniture?

An E27 holder accepts a replaceable standard-format bulb, while the round base provides a repeatable mounting interface for compatible rotomoulded shells. It is useful where continuous mains power and easy bulb replacement are more important than cordless operation.

Is this E27 base rechargeable?

No. This case concerns a wired light base with an EU plug. Rechargeable LED modules are a different solution for furniture that must operate without a power cable.

Can the same base fit every PE furniture shape?

Different furniture shapes can share one base design, but compatibility still depends on the opening, mounting holes, internal clearance, cable exit and required light distribution. A sample should be tested in representative products before bulk production.

Does the historical order prove an IP waterproof rating?

No. The available specification confirms the physical format, material, cable length and EU plug, but it does not document a tested IP rating for the complete furniture assembly. Any outdoor or wet-area project requires a separately confirmed electrical and sealing design.
