Fitting an App-Controlled LED Module Inside a Wedding Table Lamp
A wedding-rental buyer wanted cordless, phone-controlled table lamps. The first 120 mm format was too wide for the lampshade. The buyer accepted an 85 mm custom module proposal and paid the sample fee to move the project into the sample stage.

The starting request was an E27 bulb; the application was a table lamp.
The buyer initially asked for rechargeable E27 bulbs for a wedding-lighting rental fleet, with phone control, group operation and a full-evening battery runtime. Vcan first clarified whether the lights would sit on tables, illuminate table coverings from below or go inside furniture. The buyer confirmed tabletop use.
Vcan proposed a self-contained rechargeable light rather than treating the initial E27 description as the only possible solution. The buyer later confirmed that the module would go inside their lamp product, with the complete lamp placed on the table.
This differs from the under-table lighting application. A table lamp needs an appropriate fit beneath its shade as well as the required light and controls. If retaining an E27 holder is essential to your product, identify that requirement at the start; the E27 bulb-and-base kit is a separate format to review.
A suitable control function was not enough: the base also had to fit.
The early discussion covered Bluetooth phone control and a larger rechargeable configuration. Vcan also supplied a link to an app-control video as a demonstration of the function. When the buyer noticed a cable in the linked product photos, Vcan clarified that those photos were a reference, rather than the exact proposed lamp with a permanently attached cable.
The mechanical constraint then became clear: the buyer said a 120 mm base would be too large and the lampshade would not attach properly. That changed the selection question from whether phone control was possible to whether it could be provided in a smaller unit that fitted the lamp.
Vcan mentioned several smaller diameters but did not immediately promise that every size could carry the same battery and control system. The combination needed review. Our compact module size guide explains the wider space question; this enquiry shows why the functional requirements must stay attached to that size discussion.
The next recommendation was an 85 mm custom module.
Vcan subsequently proposed an 85 mm version with phone control, group operation, dimming, colour changes and a waterproof configuration. The proposal referred to Bluetooth operation within 30 m. The buyer agreed to move forward.
That is a concrete development outcome: a smaller proposed platform that the buyer accepted for the sample stage. It is not yet a record of a finished lamp passing a venue test. The messages do not identify a final standard SKU or provide a measured control-range result.
The app-control video on another product remained a functional reference. It did not make that other module's housing, charging connector or software specification the agreed configuration for the 85 mm version. The control-options guide gives the broader comparison; the sample must represent the actual lamp being developed.
Keep the remaining requirements with the five-sample plan.
The buyer paid the sample fee for the five-sample plan, moving the project into the sample stage. The planned fleet had been discussed at 120–150 lights. Shipment, customer testing and a completed bulk order have not yet been confirmed in this account.
Vcan normally uses Tuya for app-control projects. The particular app and configuration should be confirmed for the agreed sample, alongside the required phone compatibility and control functions.
For the sample review, retain these specific decisions:
- Lamp fit: check the complete module height, fixing arrangement and lampshade attachment, alongside the 85 mm diameter.
- Phone operation: confirm the app and phone platform, group behaviour, required individual-lamp selection and the venue connection requirements.
- Range and quantity: check operation in the intended layout. Five samples do not establish full-fleet control at the eventual quantity.
- Charging and light: settle the charging connector, requested warm white, colour modes and waterproof specification for this version.
- Runtime: complete the agreed discharge test at the intended brightness and light setting.
The earlier discussion included battery and runtime figures for the configuration being discussed at that point. Those figures should not automatically become the final 85 mm specification. Keep the runtime review and the sample approval record tied to the compact version actually supplied.
Compact phone-controlled lamp questions
Do wedding table lamps always need an E27 bulb?
Not always. In this enquiry, the buyer initially requested E27 bulbs but later confirmed that a module would sit inside the lamp product. Once the installation was clarified, a compact custom module became the proposed approach. An existing E27 holder still needs its own compatibility review.
Can a smaller module retain phone control and group control?
Vcan proposed an 85 mm custom version for this buyer's phone-control requirement, including group operation, dimming and colour changes. Confirm the exact configuration and sample before applying that proposal to another lamp. It is not a statement that every standard 85 mm module includes those functions.
Does the proposal establish a guaranteed 30 m Bluetooth range?
No measured range test is shown in the conversation. The discussion used 30 m as the proposed control distance. The intended phone, layout and operating conditions need to be checked with the agreed configuration.
Was every smaller diameter confirmed to support the requested functions?
No. Several smaller diameters were mentioned, but Vcan said the required combination needed engineering review. The subsequent recommendation was 85 mm; the conversation does not establish that the same combination was available in the 45 mm, 60 mm or 75 mm versions.
Which app is normally used, and what still needs confirmation?
Vcan normally uses Tuya for app-control projects. Confirm the app and configuration for the particular sample, including phone compatibility, group operation and individual-lamp selection. The customer's original USB-C request also needs to be settled in the sample specification.
Has the customer paid for samples or completed a bulk order?
The customer accepted the 85 mm proposal and paid the sample fee for the five-sample plan. The project has reached the sample stage; shipment, customer testing and a completed bulk order are not yet confirmed in this account.
Fit and function belong in the same brief
Does your table lamp need a smaller app-controlled light module?
Send photos or a drawing of the lamp and shade attachment, the available diameter and height, required lighting and runtime, and how many lights you need to control. Vcan can review a suitable module configuration before the sample is agreed.
