Removable LED Modules: Twist Out to Recharge
Leave the ring on the furniture. Take the light to the charger.
With a compatible VC-SP120 installation, the complete LED module twists out without tools while its mounting ring stays on the furniture. Charge the removed module through its bottom DC socket, then reinstall it. The charging connection moves with the light instead of requiring the whole furniture item to be brought to a power outlet.
This arrangement addresses a practical question for illuminated tables, seating and rental products: can staff reach the light easily enough to remove it for charging? It is a mechanical-access decision, separate from choosing battery capacity or a charging-current specification.
The routine described here does not require opening the light housing or taking out its internal battery. The fixed ring and removable lighting unit are separate parts.
A rental customer wanted the same twist-out mounting.
A returning rental-business customer had previously bought Vcan LED modules and illuminated furniture. When discussing another purchase, he specifically asked whether the new lights would match his existing remote controls and the mounting type he already used: modules that could be removed without tools, simply by twisting.
The customer also explained that his older furniture had additional side charging ports, but he did not need those extra connections because the modules were removable. His concern was not just the light output; it was keeping a familiar charging and handling routine across the products he managed.
The model was VC-SP120. The customer subsequently placed an order for 300 units, and Vcan completed shipment of those modules.

Remove the light, charge it separately, then put it back.
- Reach the installed module. Position the furniture safely and support it as needed. The finished product must leave enough room for a hand to operate the twist-out unit.
- Release the module from the ring. Follow the OPEN/LOCK markings and the instructions for the supplied assembly. The ring stays fixed to the furniture; routine module removal does not require unscrewing that ring.
- Charge through the bottom DC socket. Take the complete light module to the charging location and use its approved charger. Do not select an adapter merely because its plug fits.
- Disconnect and reinstall. After charging according to the supplied instructions, disconnect the charger, check the mounting and sealing parts, and lock the module back into the ring. Confirm that it is secure before putting the furniture back into use.

Removal changes where charging takes place; it does not establish faster charging or a particular runtime. Agree those electrical requirements separately for the selected configuration.
Does the furniture still need a separate side charging port?
Not necessarily. If the module can be reached and removed comfortably, the DC connection on the module can provide the charging access. This customer explicitly preferred not to add a separate external side connection to the furniture he was discussing.
VC-SP120 is still a direct-charge module. The optional omission here concerns an additional charging port on the furniture shell, not the DC charging socket on the module itself.
That is not a rule for every product. A heavy item with awkward underside access may still make module removal inconvenient. Review the actual lifting, access and reinstallation process before choosing the structure, rather than assuming that a removable module eliminates all furniture handling.
Where the light should stay installed during charging, a different access arrangement may be more suitable. The side-charging ice-bucket case illustrates that alternative. Neither approach should be treated as universally better; the right choice depends on how the finished product is used.
Match the ring and the remote—not just the diameter.
For an existing rental fleet, a new module should be checked against the parts already in service. A 120 mm model reference alone does not establish that it fits an older mounting ring or responds to an existing remote.
- Mechanical fit: compare the ring engagement, module body, opening and installation depth. Check that staff can release and refit the light in the complete furniture.
- Charging equipment: identify the bottom socket and the approved adapter for that module configuration.
- Control compatibility: keep the existing remote and order reference available for checking. Identical-looking remotes can use different codes; see matching modules to an existing remote.
- Sealing and condition: review the ring, locking parts and any specified seals. Reinstallation alone does not prove the complete furniture is waterproof.
For a new product, review the mounting ring and removal clearance before finalising the shell. For an older product, send photos of the ring, module underside and remote rather than ordering from the furniture's outside appearance alone. Compare this separate-ring arrangement with modules threaded directly into a shell and screw-fixed installations.
Questions about removable LED modules
Does the mounting ring come off every time the module needs charging?
No. In the VC-SP120 arrangement described here, the mounting ring stays attached to the furniture. The complete light module twists out without tools for routine removal.
How is the removed module charged?
Connect the approved charger to the DC charging socket on the bottom of the module. This is removal of the complete module, not removal of the battery for charging.
Can we leave out the charging port on the side of the furniture?
A removable-module design can avoid that extra external connection when the module is accessible for removal and charging. Check the complete housing, installation and charging routine before deciding. This does not mean modifying an existing shell or removing an existing port without review.
Will a new module work with our existing ring and remote?
Not automatically. Match the ring engagement, module shape, installation clearance, charging equipment and remote-control code. Send photos and the earlier order reference so Vcan can review the actual configuration.
Make charging access part of the design
Need a light that comes out for charging?
Send your furniture or enclosure photo, the intended mounting position, opening dimensions, quantity and any existing ring or remote details. Vcan can review whether the VC-SP120 removable LED module suits your installation. For fleet stock planning, see the separate rental spare-module guide.
